Essay topics:

The graph below shows the number of passenger railway journeys made in Great Britain between 1950 and 2005.

The graph illustrates how many passengers travelled by railway in Great Britain from 1950 to 2005.
In general, the number of passengers who opted to travel by railway, including the National rail network, London Underground, and Light rail & metro systems, experienced upswings. Plus, the lowest figure was found in Light rail & metro systems throughout the period.
In 1950, the number of travellers on the National rail network stayed well beyond the others, at about 1,000 million people. Following that was the figure for London Underground’ passengers, at nearly 750 million people. From 1950 to 1980, the number of passengers on the National Rail network and the London Underground decreased dramatically to around 620 and 500 million people respectively, then rose again by 580 and 500 million people, approximately as the first point’ figures. Meanwhile, travellers opting for Light rail & metro systems appeared in 1960. There was an unchanged, remaining figure between 1960 and 1980, at nearly 1 million people. In the last twenty-five years, its figure increased considerably to about 200 million people.
