The maps depict the major changes made to a city between 1950 and the present day.
As can be observed, the area has undergone significant modification with the expansion of residential and commercial areas as well as the improvement of the transport system to accommodate the rapid increase in its population.
In 1950, the total number of residents in this city was 20,000, populating mainly in the northern part of the river bank. To the south of the residential area was a commercial district which was accessed by two main roads leading to all parts of the city. In the far east, an airport was located. Whereas, the southern part which was separated from the North by a river was almost vacant with the existence of a government building residing right behind the bridge.
After being developed, the city has become more modern with the construction of infrastructures for housing and facilities for commercial purposes. In particular, due to the ten-fold increase in the population, the housing estates have been expanded, stretching to the ends of the river, which has been turned into a damped lake. Another noticeable alteration is the development of the business district across the bridge, making it double in size, while a larger government building has also been added not far from the old one which remains intact to the south. Accordingly, a new roadway system is also constructed to link it with the old bridge, and the other link the new bridge to the west. In addition, the airport has also been enlarged.
