The given diagram illustrates two cutting instruments from two different periods of time during the Stone Age.
Overall, the size and shape of these two tools are relatively similar, whereas the latter one is thicker and is more refined in the texture.
As for the front and the back views, the tool which was used 1.4 million years ago is rather rough and blunt, which baffles the cutting move. The 0.8-million-year-ago tool, on the other hand, has a more balanced structure as well as is sharper and pointier at the top, enabling the cutting activity of the wielder.
The side view reveals the thickness and shows a distinct difference between them. The former is wider to the bottom while the latter is thinner. In terms of the size, the two implements share one similarity: both of them are about 10 cm, with the main blade taking half of the length.
