It is clear that the proportion of female students in other countries tends to be better at a foreign tongue than their male counterparts (except for Thailand). Moreover, the share of people having learned such a language well in India is the highest.
The percentage of female students in India is the highest, at almost 70%, while the figure for Romina was also relatively high, at over 63%. In contrast, the rate of women using a foreign language other than their mother tongue in Thailand was the lowest, below 28%. At the same time, this share was only slightly higher in China than in Thailand, at about 30%. Meanwhile, the proportion of informal language speakers in Russia and Vietnam is 42% and 56%, respectively.
For male students, the highest usage rate is still in India, around 56%. In contrast, approximately 15% of those people were fluent in another language. In Romania, this proportion was 42%. Meanwhile, the rate of those speaking another language in Russia and Vietnam is 35% and approximately 45% respectively. While, the figure for Thailand seems to be lower, at about 30%.
