Overall, the number of closed and opened shops fluctuated with a downward trend throughout this period.

Concerning the number of store openings, which commenced at around 8500 and decreased sharply by 4500 in 2012, afterward, the figure increased steadily to 6000 in 2014, then declined in 2015 to the same number as it had been in 2011. In the following year, the number of new shops remained stable and slightly rose to around 200 in 2017. At the end of the period, the number of opened stores was accounted for at 3000, which was nearly half of it at the beginning.

Regarding the shop closures, the number of these stores was recorded at around 6200 in 2011 and declined to 6000 in the following year. In 2013, the figure of defunct retialers reached its peak, which was accounted for at about 7100. After the moderate rise, there were fewer closed-down stores in 2014, and the number was nearly the same as it was in 2011. From 2014 to 2015, the number of closed shops witnessed a rapid decrease to around 600, which hit the lowest point of the whole chart. However, within a year, a growth of 4500 was seen in the number of closed shops, which remained stable two years later.
