The following line chart illustrates how many stores that closed and the quantity of new shops that opened in a nation from 2011 to 2018.
As is clearly shown by the graph, the trend for the closure shops had a range of just under 1000 to nearly 6500, while that of the opening ones had wider range, from 3000 to 8500.
The openings’ chart begun with 8500 shops in 2011 when it had a sudden fall to approximately 4000 in 2012. However, it rebounded by 1000 units in each of the next two years: 2013 and 2014. In 2015, it notably dropped to exact 4000 and remained unchanged until 2017, when the number of opened stores moderately increase to just over 4000. Lastly, it slightly declined to 3000 shops in 2018.
The number of closed stores in 2011 was lower than that of the shop openings: The chart started with nearly 6500 but then it fluctuated over the next three years until 2015, when there was a dramatic downturn to well over 500 shops, which hit the lowest point of the chart. In 2016, it drastically rose to just over 5000 shops and stayed steadily until 2018.
