The graph below shows the consumption of fast food in the U.K per week from 1970 to 1990.
The line graph illustrates the amount of 3 kinds of fast food consumed in the UK over a period of 20 years.
Overall, it can be seen from the chart that there was an upward tendancy in the consumption amout of fast food, with fish and chips witnessing the most damatic rise. However, Pizza exeperienced a remarkable fall and stood at the lowest position at the end of the period.
In 1970, pizza was the most popular type of fast food, with around 300 grams eaten weekly. Meanwhile, fish&chips and hamburger were consumed less, starting at about 90 grams and 30 grams per week respectively. However, in the next 5 years, while the amount of fish&chips and hamburger rosed noticeably to 100 and 50 grams per week successively, there was a slight decline in the consumption of pizza, with approximately 270 grams per week. This figure continued to fall significantly to nearly 210 grams per week. In contrast, fish&chips and hamburger shared a similar pattern, increasing remarkably to around 170 and 100 respectively.
From 1980 to 1985, fish&chips saw a dramatic rise in the amount of consumption to become the most eaten fast food among three types, with 300 grams per week, which nearly tripled that of hamburger (100 grams per week). Moreover, fish& chips and hamburger continued to rocket and reach the peaks of 500 and 300 grams per week in a row in 1990. By contrast, the figure for pizza remained nearly unchanged during 1985 and 1990 at about 200 grams per week, becoming the least favorite fast food of three kinds.
