The bar chart illustrates the percentage of overweight or obese adults in a country from 1965 to 2015, while the pie chart shows the proportion of adults who were obese, overweight, severely obese, healthy or underweight in 2015.
Overall, there was an upward trend in the percentage of overweight or obese adults during 1965 to 2015. And in 2015, obese adults accounted for the most percentage while the least were severely obese adults.
In the bar chart, from 1965 to 1985, the percentage of overweight or obese adults was below 50%. Since then, there was a boom from just under 50% in 1985 to more than 70% in 2015. In 30 years, after 1985, the percentage significantly went up to more than 55% in 1995. It climbed to 70% in 2005 and dropped to 70% in 2015. In the pie chart, we can see that in 2015 obese adults accounted for the most with 34%. The next two types are overweight and healthy or underweight adults, each accounting for 31% and 29%. On contrast, adults who were severely obese took a tiny proportion with only 6%.
