You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You recently received a letter from a friend asking for advice about whether to go to college or to try to get a job. You think he/she should get a job.
Write a letter to this friend. In your letter:
• say why he/she would not enjoy going to college
• explain why getting a job is a good idea for him/her
• suggest types of job that would be suitable for him/her
I was so happy to receive your letter, and I am glad to hear that you and your family are doing well. The reason that I am writing this letter is that you specifically asked for my opinion regarding your future plans. I feel that you should get a job rather than go to college.
First and foremost, in today’s job market, companies are interested in hiring young people with experience. In most cases, it doesn’t matter whether you earned your degrees from a regular college or via distance education. Therefore, it is a mere waste of time if you choose to attend college on a regular basis.
Instead, you should consider a decent job you are interested in. After three years, you will have gained some valuable working experience. Also, if you are really keen on pursuing higher education, you can opt for a distance education programme.
My suggestion would be to join an IT company as a fresher. As you know, demand in this industry is always rising. Moreover, I have some friends who are working as human resources representatives. If you want, I will contact them for any such vacancy. I hope you find my suggestions valuable.
I wish you all the best for your future.
