The figure given above describes the budget of the English police department in one area during the years 2017 and 2018. It is noticeable that more than half of the money contributed to the police budget came from the national government. A significant amount of that money is used to pay officers and staff.
As the table illustrates, the total amount that was donated to the police department increased by about 14 million pounds within a year. Local taxes accounted for nearly 90 percent of this raise, which is about 10 million pounds. There was also an increase in the contribution of the national government, from 175.5 million in 2017 to 177.8 million in 2018. Other sources witnessed a slight rise, about 500.000 pounds, during the period mentioned.
Regarding the money distribution, the bar chart shows that in 2017, police officers and staff earned nearly 228 million pounds, which accounted for 75 percent of the total money. This figure dropped by 69% (about 224 million pounds) in 2018. Nevertheless, the proportion of the budget spent on buildings and transport stayed stable at 17% in both years. Meanwhile, technology consumed about 20 million pounds (8%) in 2017 and doubled it in 2018 (14%).
