The graph illustrates the approximate percentage of trips taken by men and women for various purposes by car in 2005. Overall, the highest number of car trips by both men and women were made for work purposes.
The largest portion of car trips made by men were for work purpose at slightly higher than 50%. Shopping and recreation contributed to around 10% subsequently. Visiting town and attending courses followed at around 8% trips. Other purposes such as Bank work, running errands and visiting friends were the least at less than 5%.
Similarly Women made a large portion of their car trips mainly for work purpose at under 40% followed by shopping at around 18%. Attending courses and running errands constituted to around 12% and 10% respectively while bank work led to around 8% of the car trips made.
In conclusion, while men made 50% car trips to work, women made 10% lesser at around 40%. However, women made more trips on the whole as compared to men for various purposes.
