The reading and the lecture are both about dinosaures, which is about they are endotherms or not. The author of readings believes that there is considerable evidence for proving this fact, but the lecture casts doubt on the claims made in the article. She thinks that many scientists have problem with it.
First of all, the author claims that one reason for being endotherm is that dinosaurs lived in the polar region. He believes that only endotherms can live, and do not die in polar region. This point is challenged by the lecture. She says that polar region was warmer than today. Furthermore, she points out if they lived in these regions they can hibernate like other animals or migrate to warmer places in harsh weather condition.
Secondly, the authors states that position of leg is another reason for proving that dinosaures were endotherms. He argues that the position of legs in dinosaues are in the same place as the endotherms. This argument is rebutted by the lecture. She suggests they have big energy for running and they have more weight and large size.
Finally, the author mentions that the bones in endotherm have Haversian canals. He is of the opinion that the presence of this structures in dinosaure is a good evidence that these animals were endotherms. The lecture, on the other hand, feels that it is not true. She puts forth the idea that endotherms grow rapidly in every enviromental condition evevn in very cool weather, but one study about dinosaures indicates that they grow slowly in the cooler periodd.
