The graph below shows the changes in food consumption by Chinese people between 1985 and 2010.
The graph represents the amount of three different types of foods, namely; meat, salt and fish, were consumed by Chinese from 1985 to 2010. Overall, the fish consumption was popular throughout the period given. It is interesting to note that, both fish and meat consumption increased with its consumption, while salt was the only food that the amount of consumption decreased substantially.
Looking in details of fish consumption in the period of 1985 to 1995, which amount was recorded at 600 grams despite the periodic fluctuation (in 1990 its consumption increased to 700 grams and fell back to 600 grams). Meanwhile, meat was the lowest consumption in China of 100 grams in 1985 before it stably increased to 200 grams (nearly) by 1995. In contrast, salt experienced a declining trend from 500 grams in 1985 to around 350 grams in 1995.
From 2000, the amount of consumption for fish continued to rise remarkably to reach at close to 900 grams in 2010, whereas the salt with its consumption decreased continuously to end at 200 grams in 2010. This figure recorded at the same as the amount of meat consumed in 2010 (of 200 grams).
