The first chart below shows how energy is used in an average Australian household. The second chart shows the greenhouse gas emissions which result from this energy use.
The charts represent the proportion of average energy used for six household goods and the amount of greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the energy usage in Australia.
Overall, heating was the highest energy used by Australian households but its gas emission rate is 4th highest. It is apparent that, other appliance and refrigeration had produced the greenhouse gas emissions in relation to its usage.
The majority of Australian household used energies for heating purposes (of 42%); this produced the least gas emissions of 15% in comparison to its usage. Meanwhile, cooling used 2% of energies and 4% energies used for lighting in Australia and which produced 3% and 8% of greenhouse gas emissions respectively.
In terms of other appliance and refrigeration, 15% of Australian household used energies for other appliances while 7% energy was used for refrigeration. In comparison to its usage, the greenhouse gas emission was produced of 28% for other appliances and 14% for refrigeration.
