The line graph provides information about the amount of CO2 per person emitted into the air in 4 different countries, namely the UK, Sweden, Italy and Portugal, on the average from 1967 to 2007. It is also worth noting that while Italian and Portuguese people were inclined to release an increasing amount of CO2 in that period, there was a reverse trend in those of the UK and Sweden.
To specify, after achieving almost 9 metric tonnes in 1967, the quantity of CO2 in Sweden reached a peak of approximately 10 metric tonnes, before falling steeply by about 5 metric tonnes in 2007. Furthermore, the period from 1967 to 2007 witnessed a slight decrease in the amount of CO2 released in the UK. Surprisingly, the quantity of CO2 which was emitted to the atmosphere in the UK was always higher than that of its counterparts in those years. In contrast, the year 1997 saw that figure for CO2 in Italy rise dramatically at almost 8 metric tonnes, followed by a plateau in that of Italy. Similarly, the year 1997 also witnessed a sharp rise in the quantity of CO2 emitted into Portuguese air, then that of greenhouse gas in Portugal leveled off at over 5 metric tonnes.
