The article states that communal online encyclopedia have many drawbacks that make them much less valubale than traditional encycolpedias and provides three reasons of support. Conversely, the professor states that communal online have many advantages that woutweigh its disadvantages and the critisims have made by the author’s is prejudice . And she he refutes each of the author’s reasons.
First, the reading avers that unlike the traditionl encyclopedias, contributors to onlince encyclopedia often lack academic creditionals, and thereby the inforamtion inaccurate. The professor, on the other hand, refutes this point by saying even if in tradionial way, errors could have been happened. Its too hard to do a comprehensive study on any subject without making errors. The professor adds that in case of making errors in communal online encyclopedia is easy to correct it, but if you made an erro in printing forms, it would take decades to be cprrected. So, the communal online encycopedia is much more better than the traditional ones.
Second, the article claims that the communal online gives users and vandels ot hacker the oppotunity to fabricate, delete, and corrpt information in the encycolpedia. However, the professor opposes this point by explaining that the poeple in charing of the comunal online encycopedias know the importance of protecting information un the encycopedia. So, the create two startegies that help them presereve crucial important facts from being damaged. The first strategy, is by creating read format only, so the users would not have the option to do any change on these facts. And secondly, they hire special editors to monitor all changes that have been made on the encyclopedia and clear them if malcious. The prfessor concludes that the onlines communal encyclopedia information is protecting from vandelism.
Third, the reading posits that the communal create a false impression of what information is important or unimportant by focusing too fretuently on popular topics. The professor refutes this point by stating that since the traditional encyclopedias have limited space, people judgement on sepcific topics that would not be popular among a wide range of people. But for online encycopedia, it could repressent academic subjects, and a great variety of topoic too. As a result, it create large diversity for all users. The professor concludes this create diversitication is a strong advantage for online communal encycopedia.
