The line graph gives the information, about the intake of margarine, low fat and reduced spreads and butter in grams, between 1981 and 2007. Overall, it is immediately apparent that, consumption of spreads has reduced over the years.
Butter was seen most preferred spread, which stood at 140 grams in 1981. There was a gradual increase in the use, which reached its peak in 1986 for 160 grams. Thereafter, consumption of butter was drastically reduced to 50 grams in 2007.
On the contrary, low fat and reduced spreads were less preferred, their consumption was started in 1996 and stood as low at 10 grams. There was a significant increase about 80 grams by 2001, though unlike it had a gradual fall by 2007 to 70 grams.
However, margarine was low in intake at 80 grams in 1981, and over the time frame it plunged to 40 grams by 2007, which became the least used spread compared to all three in the graph.
