The table illustrates information about how many children in percentage were born to women aged 40-45 years old in the period between 1981 and 2006 years in Australia.
Generally, it can be clearly seen that percentage of women aged 40-44, having born none to two children saw an upward trend, however, the percentage of women this age, who born more two children experienced a downward trend over the period.
Look at the details, on the increase tendency, in 1981 proportion of mid-age women (age 40-44), who born two children per year was the most number at 29.0 percent, almost one third of women this age, making it significantly higher than proportion of the women having born none, one child at 8.5 % and 7.6 % respectively. Interestingly, over the time, the proportion of the two children women stable increased and remaining the largest proportion. In the period percentage of the two children women was a gradual rise, whereas rates of the women having none and one child mostly doubled in 2006 with 15.9 % and 13.2%.
By contrast, on the downward trends, regarding women with four and more children, it experienced a dramatic fall from the second biggest proportion in 1981 to the lowest in 2006 at 11.0%. Similarly, the third children women have the same decrease trend, by 2006 the figure went down to 21.5%.
