Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.
Some people in the world may be disagree with the statement that the social welfare of a nation’s people represent the nation’s greatness better than the achievements of its artists, scientists and rulers. Their perspective is convincing in some circumstances, however, I have perspective more closer to the author’s claim.
Firstly, it is granted, the figures achievement indicate thier nation’s greateness in some cases. Andy Warhol could be a great example of an individual whose achievement improve the nation’s status. Andy was an outstanding artist in the United States, due to his significant effort, people nowaday know more about pop art and relize that modern art deserves recognition and his masterpieces are highly acclaimed until now. Thus, I agree that achievement of an individual could represent the nation’s power in a specific field such as art.
Secondly, although a great single person can represent their nation’s greatness, I believe that a social welfare is better to show their nation’s greatness. This is because the general welfare is the result of the long-term policy in nation which is different from the one’s achievement that last shorter. Thus, the welfare system reveal their nation’s greateness more better. For example, North Korea is one of the best exampler of my position. North Korea is well known for their poor people and adverse condition. Nothing represent the country better than their abysmal policy and people’s right which is neglected.
Finally, Sweden’s welfare system could be a good paradigm that indicate the nation’s greateness. Sweden is one of the moneyed nation in the world and a country with the most highly developed welfare, as well. The government of Sweden spend their social spending to GDP(Gross Domestic Product). This results in the country to have some of the lowest level of relative and absolute poverty. It is thier great welfare policy that represent their nation’s high position in the world.
In summary, I partly argree with the statement that a single person’s succeed represent their nation’s greatness, however, as I mentioned above I believe that general welfare indicate the nation’s high status more better,
