The chart below shows the different levels of post-school qualifications in Australia and the proportion of men and women who held them in 1999.
Given is the chart providing statistical information about the number of males and females who held various post-school qualifications in 1999.
We can immediately see that, males noticeably surpassed their counterparts in terms of getting vocational diploma and postgraduate diploma. It is also apparent that, females were more successful in getting undergraduate diploma.
According to the chart it can be observed that, in 1999 90% of males got skilled vocational diploma whereas for women it was only 10%. Additionally, the majority of people who got postgraduate diploma and master’s degree were males which showed 70% and 60% respectively.
Although women were passive in getting postgraduate diploma and master’s degree they excelled in completing the bachelor’s degree and an undergraduate degree. To be more specific, there was a significant gap between both genders, who got undergraduate diploma (70 % opposed to 35%). Furthermore, in terms of being successful in bachelor’s studies women lead with 50 %.
Overall, the chart suggests that in Australia there were some discrepancies in the levels of post-school qualifications.
