The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.
The chart compares the proportion of male and female Australians in six age groups who participated in regular physical activities in 2010.
According to the chart, it is clear that more women spent time exercising than men in the age groups ranging from 35-44, 45-54, 55-64. Specifically, about 53% of ladies were reported to engage in frequent exercise. By contrast, the corresponding figures for men stood at 39.5%, 43.1% and 45.1% respectively. Besides, there was also a 6.7% difference between them in the 25-34 age group.
The smallest gap between the genders can be seen in the eldest age group (65 and over), while 46.7% men and a very close 47.1% women claimed they did physical exercise often. The only age group where men performed better is in the youngest age group of 15 to 24, the number was an impressive 52.8% for men versus 47.7% for women.
To sum up, nearly half of the Australians engaged themselves in regular physical activity and women seemed to show greater interest in general.
