The bar chart below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over of three countries in 1980 and 2000 and prediction in 2030.
The given bar chart illustrates the percentage of people at age 65 and over from 1980 to 2000 and gives the prediction for 30 years later in three nations: Canada, Germany, and the UK.
Overall, while there is an upward trend in the ratio of the aged 65 population in three countries, Germany has ranked the first position over the period.
As can be seen from the chart, the figure for Germany at 65 and above witnessed a gradual increase from 15 per cent to 29 per cent in the period between 1980 and 2000. Following that, it is also predicted to go up by 5% in 2030.
Following this trend, Canada and the UK also experienced an increase at different levels. While the figure for Canadians grew steadily from 10 to 15, the proportion of people aged 65 and over in Britain underwent an insignificant increase, from 13 to 15, the same as in 2000. However, the UK is predicted to have the same increasing trend as before, at nearly 20% in 2030. Whereas its counterpart has witnessed considerable growth and surpassed the figure for those, at over 22% in 2030.
