Essay topics:

The bar chart below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over of three countries in 1980 and 2000 and prediction in 2030. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make a comparison where relevant.

The given bar chart illustrates the allocation of the aging population in three distinct nations in two separate years 1980 and 2000 and including a forecast to 2030.
Overall, it can be easily seen that the share of the population aged 65 and over in three countries experienced an upward trend. Besides, of the three selected nations, the largest proportion of elderly people went to Germany throughout the period. Most notably, the same figure was recorded in Canada and the UK in 2000.
Looking at the chart in more detail, in 1980, the percentage of old people in Germany ranked first with 15%, after which this figure increased significantly to 20% two decades later. The same degree of increase could be witnessed in the rate of the aging population in Canada, which rose from 10% to 15%. Meanwhile, the contribution of elderly people in the United Kingdom ranked second with around 14% in 1980, at which point this figure registered a marginal rise by 1% in 2000.
In 2030, the proportion of old people in Germany was predicted to increase consistently to 25%. In comparison, the figure for Canada was forecasted to soar to roughly 22%, which surpassed the figure of nearly 20% in the UK.
