The chart below gives information about the growth of urban population in certain parts of the world including the prediction of the future. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart illustrates information about the rise of towns' population and cities' population growth on three continents and worldwide from 1950 to 2000. It is projected for 2023.
Overall, the population in 1989 was lower than in the other two years and is projected to increase by 2030.
In 1950, the population of Asia was more than 10% and slightly higher than that of Africa. However, Latin America reached more than 40%, while the total population of the world was only about 30%. And until 2000, Latin America remained the highest population percentage at 70%. Africa and the Americas increased the same. In 2000, it was nearly 40% higher and about 10% higher than the whole world.
And in 2030, Asia is projected to be about 10% higher than Africa and Asia will probably be close to 60% and Africa will probably be more than 50%. Africa has been predicted to reach 80% of the population and more than 20% of the world's population. This trend is expected to continue into the future with some African countries having larger populations than those in Asia. The potential for economic growth in Africa is immense and could lead to a significant boost in the global economy.
