The pie charts below illustrate the medium proportions in ordinasry meals of three genres of nutrients including sodium, saturated fat and added sugar, all of which are consumed in the USA.
Looking at the chart, it is evident that both of the highest consumption of sodium and saturated fat are at lunch, while the highest figure for added sugar consumption is at snacks. All three kinds of nutrients are least digested at breakfast.
In breakfast, sodium only makes up for 14% of the meal. Until lunch, the amount of sodium consumed rises to about 29%, a surge of 15% in comparison with a slight growth by 10% of saturated fat. 16% of added sugar are taken in at breakfast, before experiencing a moderate jump to 19% at lunch.
The figure for sodium eaten at dinner is considerably higher than at snacks (43% and 14% respectively), therefore, a rapid plunge by 29% is registered. Similarly, saturated fat reaches its peak at dinner at 37%, but then plummet sharply to approximately 21% at snacks. By contrast, a downward trend is seen in the percentage of added sugar, climbing from 23% at dinner to 42% at snacks.
