The pie charts demonstrate how water was consumed for different sectors in Sydney and Australia within a decade between 1997 and 2007.
Overall, the use of water for the food industry was highest, compared to other sectors in the given period, while the opposite trend could be observed in the water consumption for the Building industry.
As can be seen clearly in the pie chart, Sydney and Australia consumed water mainly for Food industry, which accounted for 48 % in 1997 and this percentage dropped slightly by 7% in the next 10 years. In contrast, the figure for the building industry was only 5% in 1997 but reduced significantly by 3% in the following decade. The same downwards pattern goes for water consumption in manufacturing, which dropped from 15% to 11%.
When it comes to the upwards trend, the massive increase could be seen in the amount of water used for Service industry, doubling to 25% in 2007. Additionally. the use of water for the household purpose was 19 % and climbed slightly by 2 % in 2007.
