The chart below shows estimated world illiteracy rates by region and by gender for the year 2000. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

The comparison in the estimation of illiteracy in five different regions by genders for 2000 is displayed in the bar chart, shown in percentage.

Overall, South Asian were the most suffering from illiteracy compared to other areas, and them in advanced world showed a reverse, while others varied. Furthermore, women were more vulnerable than men to experience this issue.

As per data, top three regions having the largest illiteracy population were South Asia, Arab States, and Sub-Saharan Africa, with the rate of females in about a half, and that of males at approximately three in ten. This contrasts to the aforementioned region, the vast majority of persons in developed nations did not suffer from this reading problem, showing the proportion of both sexes at below a twentieth.

Turning to the population of Oceania or East Asia, women being unable to read were a fifth, being more than those living in Latin America or Caribbean at only a half of the previous place. When it comes to the counterpart gender, those in the latter region estimated to possess this problem accounted for one in ten, which was lower than those in the former at around one in twenty.
