The chart represents the percentage of house owners and accommodation rental in England and Wales for a period between 1918 and 2011. In general, the percentage of households who rented the accommodations was higher until 1971 and after that followed by the households who owned accommodation.
To look at the percentage of households who owned accommodation, the year 1991 and 2001 reached the highest demand nearly with 70% in the given time frame. And then, there was slightly dropped about 5% in the year 2011. The year 1981 was followed by this with 60%. The beginning of the year of given question, 1981, stood at the last place with 22%.
On the other side, households in rented accommodation, the percentage was considerably dropped from the first given year to the last. The year 1981 come at the first place with 78%, where 1939 and 1953 followed by this, at the same percentage with 79.
In general, the percentage for both owner and rental was same in the year 1971 with 50%.
