The charts below give information on the ages of people when they got married in one particular country in 1996 and 2008.
The bar charts depict the percentage of males and females getting married accross a range of age groups in a certain country in 1996 and 2008.
Overall, whereas the proportion of people under 30 marrying seemed to decrease after 12 years, there was an upward trend in terms of those over 30. Besides, men tended to get married when they get older, while that of women was relatively smaller. Noticeably, 25 to 29 and 30 to 34 were the ideal ages for getting married in both genders.
The rate of married women from 16 to 19 was by far smallest and decreased a half after over a decade (0.5 per cent in 2008 vs. 1 per cent in 1996). The number increased sharply with age untill reaching its peak when they were 25 to 29 at about 11,5 per cent and remained relatively unchanged after 12 years. Similarly, the proportion of men who got married saw also a rise when they were from 20 - 24 to 25 - 29, 2,5 and 9, respectively, although no men married when they were under 20 years old. In 2008, the figure dropped by 1 per cent in comparison with that in 1996.
In contrast, once those residents were over 30, married rate decreased steadily with age. The numbers for married men tended to be considerably higher than women. After 12 years, there was an increase by 1 per cent in terms of married men, and by 0,5 per cent for women.
