The charts below show the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients, all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The charts compare the average shares of particular meals in three kinds of nutrients that were surveyed in America. There are significant differences among sodium, saturated fat and added sugar, which may be not good for human’s health when consuming a large proportion.
In sodium, the most significant share of this agent is dinner which contains nearly half of this nutrient. The second highest proportion, 29%, is a mid-noon meal, while the contribution of breakfast is as high as that of snacks and just less than half of lunch’s consumption.
It seems to be similar to sodium when dinner accounts for just below 40% of spending saturated fat, which is the largest proportion among four meals. The lunch is responsible for 26% which is lower than using it in dinner by 10%. There is little difference between the shares of breakfast and snacks, as the former comprises 16% of saturated fat whereas the contribution of the latter is higher by a margin of 5%.
On the other hand, the most popular consumption in added sugar is snacks which contributes 42%. American people use almost half of snacks’ figure in their dinner. Indeed, lunch accounts for 19% of using added sugar and the proportion of breakfast is lower than that of lunch by a margin of 5%.
Overall, dinner is the most widely-used meal in both sodium and saturated fat, in contrast to added sugar which is included the most in snacks. Furthermore, American people consume breakfast as the least meal consisting of three kinds of nutrients.
