The charts below show the changes in ownership of electrical appliances and amount of time spent doing housework in households in one country between 1920 and 2019.
The provided 2 charts give an insight into the number of people owning electrical household devices and the number of hours weekly they spend to do household chores such as washing clothes, and cooking meals, respectively, during the period from 1920 to 2019.
In overall, it can be observed from both of the graphs that there has been a reverse correlation between the time spent on the 3 activities and the number of owners having appliances replacing those corresponding housework. In other words, each year the use of appliances in homes were becoming more likely situation and people were gradually giving up doing the chores manually.
Regarding the trends of the utilizing 3 apparatus mentioned in the first graph, at the start of 1920, the situation was such that as if almost nobody were informed of the existence of refrigerators. However, washing machines and vacuum cleaner were being utilized by 30 and 40 percent of the houses respectively. Intriguingly, the number of homes with washing machines started booming with a sudden jump from nearly 0 to almost 55 percent, whereas the rise in the other appliances had relatively moderate slope.
Meanwhile, the time that people spend on manual activities followed a linear downfall from 50 to 35 hours per week, and continued the trend plunging in 20% during the next 2 decades when the refrigerators sustain their dominance over other appliances. Speaking in general, until 2019, fridges continued growth till reaching a plateau of 100 percentage, whereas washing machines were fluctuating and eventually ending up 75%. Finally, it was observed that usage of vacuum cleaners were linearly growing, and it also reached plateau of 100 percent during last 19 years.
