The line graphs illustrate the percentage of household applying electrical appliances and a number of hours which household spent doing housework in a nation during a period of 99 years since 1920.
As can be seen from the first line graph, the proportion of household using washing machine, refrigerator and vacuum cleaner witnessed a rise trend while amount of time which a family doing housework per week experience a reverse trend.
To begin with, the ratio of household applying washing machine increased quickly 30% from 1920 to 1960 before it dropped slightly to about 65% after 20 year. Then, it rose slightly to 75% in 2019 which was a lowest point of the line graph compared to data of fridge and vacuum cleaner. In terms of figure for fridge, starting at the lowest point in 1920, with around 1%, it rose dramatically to 90% before reach 100% 20 years later and kept stable for the last of 39 year. Besides, the rate of families using vacuum cleaner went up significantly to 100% over 80 year since 1920 and remained unchanged for the last 19 year.
On the other hand, the number of hours which a family spent doing chores went down shapely by 30 hours from 1920 to 1960 before kept going down slowly to roughly 10% after 59 years.
