Essay topics:

The charts below show the levels of participation in education and science in developing and industrialised countries in 1980 and 1990.

The charts give information about average years of schooling, the number of participants in science and technics, and the amount of spending on research in both developing and industrialised countries in 1980 and 1990.

It is obvious that industrialised countries’ average years of schooling is way higher than in developing countries. Which means that industrialised countries' scientists and technicians number and the spending on research is also a lot higher. In 1980 it was 2.5 years in developing countries while it was 8.5 in industrialised countries. Then in 1990 industrialised and developing both increased over 10 years and over 3 years respectively.

Scientists and technicians per 1000 people in developing countries was 10 people in 1980 and reached nearly 15 people in 1990. In industrialised countries the number was a bit over more than 40, then in 1990, it increased to 70. In developing countries, money spent on research and development decreased from 50 billion dollars to very small amounts such as 20 billion dollars, while in industrialised countries the number rose from 160 billion dollars to approximately 340 billion dollars.

The overall picture is that the numbers were quite different in developing and industrialised countries even sometimes one of them decreased and the other one kept increasing.
