The six pie charts reveal the proportion of water consumption for three purposes in six different areas of the world. We can easily divide them into two groups according to the proportion of industrial water. The first group includes North America and Europe, where most are developed countries, the rest of them, which means South America, Africa and Asia, mainly composed of developing countries.
For the first group, we can see that the industrial use occupies about half of the total. In North America, water for agriculture account for 39 percent while in Europe, this number decreases to 32 percent. The water of domestic use is very close, 13 percent and 15 percent respectively.
For the second group, the water used for agriculture makes the largest proportion, for up to 88 percent. Therefore, the industrial use and the domestic use only make a small part, most below 10 percent. It is worth mentioning that, in South America, the percentage of water for domestic use is 19%, which is the highest among all similar data.
To sum up, we can draw the conclusion that industry has become the most important property in developed countries while agriculture comes first in developing countries.
