The charts below show the percentage of water used for different purposes in six areas of the world.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The pie charts depict water usage for three purposes (industrial, agricultural, and domestic use) in six particular areas (North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Central Asia, and South East Asia), represented by percentages.
Overall, most of these continents focus on agricultural use, except for North America and Europe as these areas mainly use water for industrial use. However, the percentage of water used for domestic use is insignificant.
In detail, 88% of water is used for agricultural sectors in Central Asia, which is also the highest percentage, followed by Africa (84%) and South East Asia (81%). On the contrary, domestic and industrial use are given less priority by these areas as the combined percentage of these sectors only ranged from 12% to 19%.
In North America and Europe, around half of the water goes to industrial purposes (48% and 53% respectively), whereas only 13% and 15% of water are used for domestic purposes. Also, South America accounts for one of the highest percentages of water used for agriculture (71%) and domestic (19%).
