The line graph illustrates the overseas tourism volume in three regions, the coast, the mountains and the lakes in a Western nation from 1987 to 2007.
Overall, it is clear that the coast was the most common choice for foreign travellers while the lakes seemed to be the least attractive option. Besides, although the lake experienced a significant change in the number of foreigners, no discernible variation was recorded in the figure for mountainous areas.
In 1987, only 10 thousand overseas visitors came to the lakes, which was half and a fourth of the mountains and the coast respectively. However, due to a noticeable rise in the following years, the number of foreign tourists to the lakes surpassed the mountains in 1992 to become the second most visited destination in 1997. Meanwhile, steady growth was seen in the tourism of the coast with 50 thousand visitors in 1997.
In the remaining years of the period, the figure for the coast kept increasing gradually to reach its peak of around 75 thousand overseas tourists in 2007. Nevertheless, there was little change in the number of travellers having their vacations in mountainous regions. Finally, after skyrocketing in 2002, the number of the lakes decreased remarkably to 50 thousand foreign tourists.
