The pie charts illustrate the proportion of working time in office used for various tasks in the UK in two years, namely 1990 and 2000.
In general, there were noticeable changes in the percentage of working hours in the office spent on using telephone, emails, paper documents, and talking with colleagues, while a constant trend can be seen if we look at the figures for meeting time and other things. It is also clear that that for paper documents was higher than for any other task over the period shown.
At the beginning of the period, 35% of working time in office was spent on paper documents, compared to only 12% on using the telephone and 6% on using emails. Over the following 10 years, The Uk saw the proportion of time that workers in office spent on paper documents decrease to 30%. During the same period, the percentage of working time in office used for using telephone dropped to 8%; however, the figure for using emails increased sharply, to 23%
In 1990, talking with colleagues accounted for 17% of the total working time, while the figures for other things and meeting time were lower, at 46% and 14%. After 10 years, the proportion of working hours in office spent on talking with colleagues fell considerably, dropping to 9%. Furthermore, the percentage of working time used for meeting time remained unchanged, and the figure for other things maintain stability
