The charts summarise the weight measurements of people living in Charlestown in 1955 and 2015.
The two provided bar charts illustrate information comparing percentage of population who had health problems from three weight issues ( underweight, overweight, obesity) inhabiting in the city of Charlestown during 1955 to 2015 and this also includes a proportion of citizens whose health condition was fine. Looking at the bars, we can see that the changes of weight problems among people of different-age groups were significantly varied over six decades.
It is interesting to see that the youngest age group between 20-29 had the lowest percentage of weight issues, with more than seventy per cent being assessed to have a good health condition in 1955. In comparison, the inhabitants in their 60s had a striking problem of underweight approximately forty per cent while people of 40s had a problem with excess weight around over twenty per cent. Obviously, obesity in this period was considered a the fewest case of citizens' problem in weight assessment.
In 2015, the percentage of healthy body weight still belonged to citizens of early and late 20s age which was 65 per cent more than the proportion of people in their elderly age in the same year. Obesity, on the other hand, was indicated a a major weight problem in the oldest age group with about sixty per cent instead of underweight issue that had less than fifty per cent of overall population. In this year of 2015, the increase of unhealthy condition in Charlestown inhabitants was very apparent.
To summarise, it was obvious that citizens in their 20s of both compared years had the smallest number of weight problems while elderly people in 2015 tended to have more and more unhealthy body weight especially with obesity.
