Cinema attendance by age group
The line graph illustrates the percentage of people in four different age groups going to the cinema in Great Britain.
Overall, despite being rises in the percentages of people attending the cinema in four groups, the highest figure was recorded for those aged 15-24. All age groups maintain the same ranking after 16 years except for the 25 - 35 group.
Regarding categories with increasements, there was a significant rise in the percentage of cinema attendance in the 15 - 24 group, from over 15% in 1984 to 30% in 1989. After that, there was a fluctuation between 1989 and 1994, after reaching a peak of 58% in 1999 and decreasing to 55% in 2000. In contrast, the smallest proportion was the oldest group, starting at 0% in 1984. After soaring slightly to 1994 at 5%, there was a marginal increase to 15% in 2000.
Remaining those aged 7 - 14 and 25 - 35, inspite of starting at 2 different percentage numbers, they both end at over 30%. The share of moviegoers aged 7 - 14 rose negligibly between 1984 and 1989, after which it rose sharply in 1994 and then ended the period at roughly 33% in 2000. In the meantime, the 25 - 35 viewers percentages in 1984, 1989 and 1994 started at about 5%, 10% and 25% respectively, followed by slight fluctuation during the surveyed period, and after rising slightly in 2000.
