The diagram represents an outcome of the influence of coastal erosion on a cliff and how it leads to the exposure of fossils. Overall, as can be seen from the picture, during the time the size of the rock gradually reduces due to the effect of waves and high and low tides.
First of all, after having looked at the diagram, it should be acknowledged that high tides attack the bottom part of the cliff and this main reason why the hollow part is often evident at the foot of the cliff. In addition to this, waves beat the cliff at half of its height and accelerate the erosion process.
After a time, as the bottom part of the cliff slightly disappears there is no support for the cliff's upper part. Therefore, rocks from the top part fall down creating a sloping rocky platform.The sea-front bottom cliff’s part is always being damaged by waves which leads to the emergence of the danger zone. Under the pressure of sea water the cliff’s surface retreated many times before the exploration of fossils.
