The illustration demonstrates steps for making sugar from sugar cane. Normally, there are 7 steps to process the sugar cane into sugar, starting with growing sugar cane and ending with final product is dried and cooked sugar.
Firstly, the sugar canes are cultivated and grown up within 12 to 18 months until being the adult trees and be ready to harvest. Traditionally, farmers cut down the sugar cane by hand with a low efficiency but nowadays, modern machines are used to harvest sugar canes and remove unnecessary parts on the trees at the same time with higher speed and get ready for crushing stage. At the crushing stage, sugar canes are crushed in to juice and stored in a large bowl before being transferred to a limestone filter where raw juice are purified. Then, the filtered juice is poured into a pan where it starts the process called evaporator which use high temperature to boil and solid the juice becoming syrup. This amount of syrup then experiences a process called centrifuge where crystals from syrup is separated to be the normal sugar that we usually see in supermarkets or convenient stores.
