The flow chart depicts the stages involved in the production of bricks.
Overall, there are seven stages involved in the manufacturing process of bricks from the first phase, digging of the clay to the final step which is, the delivery.
Firstly, the clay is dug using machines. Following which it is sent for screening using a metal grid and the fine particles conveyed by rollers. Next, the clay is mixed with sand and water, prior to being deposited into a mold or cut by a wire to form bricks.
The molded bricks are then placed in a drying oven for 24 to 48hrs prior to being sent to the kiln and heated first at moderate temperatures, 200C — 980C and later at high temperatures ranging from 870C to 1300C. Then they are left in the cooling chamber for 48 to 72hrs and subsequently sent for packaging followed by the final step, delivery.
