The given diagram provides various steps in the process of chocolate production.
Overall, there are ten stages to manufacture liquid chocolate from ripe cacao beans.
At the beginning of the process, ripe cacao beans, which are recognized by its red pods, are harvested from cacao trees. These plants are mostly grown in South America, Africa and Indonesia. Upon being harvested, the pods are broken into halves so that the beans which are then left to be fermented can be collected easily. These beans are packaged in large sacks after being dehydrated by spreading under the sunlight.
Sacks of cacao beans are transported to the factory by train or lorry. At the factory, the beans are roasted under high temperatures, at about 350 Celsius degrees. Following that, roasted beans are sent to a grinder to be crushed in order to remove the outer shells. Finally the inner part of these beans go through a two-roll presser to become liquid chocolate after the pressing phase.
