The first chart illustrates the monthly expenditure on children’s sports by British parents and the second chart compares the young participants in three sports between 2008 and 2014.

Overall, there was an increase in spending on children’s sports while football was considered as the most popular sport chosen by youth.

Viewing on the first chart, the amount of money was spent on children’s sport started at approximately 20 pounds in 2008, with an increasing rate at 2.5 pounds per year, which ended up at more than 30 pounds in the last year. On the participating in sports side, football always had the highest number of participants, which was at around 8 million children over 6 years included a slight downtrend in 2010. There was a gradual increase of children interested in swimming from 2.4 million in 2008 to 4.5 million in 2014. Athletic which had the lowest participation among the three sports till 2011 and surprisingly reach a peak of 5 million in 2012.

By the end of 2014, the number of participation in athletic was just under 5 million and outweigh the participation in swimming.
