Generation of Electricity through Hydro Electric Power station
The given chart illustrates steps for production of power through hydroelectric power station.
Overall, it can be witnessed that river water and a turbine play vital role in generating electricity. The accumulated water in the reservoir flows down with a gush and hit the turbine which rotates to produce electricity.
Initially, the river water is collected in the reservoir that is controlled by a dam. Then, during the day the valve is opened to allow the water to flow. The water swooshes towards the reversible turbine causing it to rotate. The rotation of turbine produces electricity. Similarly, during the night, the excess water is pumped back to the same reservoir so that the water is used again next day for the same purpose. Later on, the valve is closed in the night.
After the generation of electricity, the power is directed straight through high voltage lines to a national grid. Subsequently, the electricity travels into the underground cables and reaches to towns, villages, and cities.
