The graph illustrates the trends in birth rates of China and the USA over an 80-year period between 1920 and 2000.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that both China and USA had the same trend over the period given. During the first 33 years, it fluctuated dramatically then shown a steady fall. Another interesting point is that the rate of birth in USA was higher than China’s generally.
Looking at the details, just as USA, China started with 10 percent in but in 1933 it reached 15 percent exceeded USA (13%) at that time. However, in the next 20 years the figure of both China and USA shown a plunge, hit a trough at 5 percent from 1941 to 1943. Then the rate of birth grew sharply, finishing at 20 percent and 15 percent respectively in 1947.
By contrast, over the last period there was a big gap between the birth rates of USA and China. The figures for them dipped stably finishing the period at 7 percent and 3 percent in turn.
