The line chart presents information about the proportion of the urban population in four Asian countries between 1970 and 2020, as well as projected population from 2030 to 2040.
Overall, it is clear that the four Asian countries experience an increase population from 1970 to 2040, among the Malaysia and Indonesia show a dramatically increasing trend, while the Philippines and Thailand show a slightly rise.
The proportion of urban population in Philippines was similar with Malaysia, nearly accounting for 30% in 1970, while the percentage of total population lived in Malaysia was the highest after 1993 and predicted the most urban population after 2030. At the same time, Indonesia also become the second highest proportion of urban population countries in this period which was the lowest percentage in 1970 (13%) and exceeded the Thailand(28%) in 2002 and Philippines(41%) after 20l0.
The population in Philippines living in cities was the highest percentage in 1970, while decreased from 49% to 40% between 1990 and 2010 which become the second largest urban population city, then rising after 2010 which lower than Indonesia that projected the third largest urban countries in 2030. The urban population in Thailand was the third highest proportion during 1970(14%) and 2000(29%). However, the percentage of the population in Thailand living in city kept stably between 2000 to 2020 nearly 29%, then projected the proportion of urban population in 30% to 45% which is the lowest urban population country.
