The line graph presents and predicts the amount of oil consumed daily in barrels by the US, Western Europe and Japan, china, as well as the Middle East in term of the number of daily barrels during the period of twenty-two years starting in 2009.
Overall, from 2015, the amount of oil consumed by the US and China is expected to increase while that of Western Europe and Japan and the Middle East will decrease significantly. It is also clear that the US will remain the major consumer of all four areas throughout the years.
In 2009, almost 10 million barrels per day was consumed per day by the US. The figures were considerably lower for Western Europe and Japan at 4 million, and China and the Middle East at 2 million each. From 2009 to 2015, while the consumptions remained consistently in the US and declined gradually to approximately 3 million in Western Europe and Japan, they the data shared a similar upward trend in other areas with 2.8 million and 2.1 million for china and the middle of east respectively.
Afterwards, the US is predicted to experience the most dramatic fall to nearly 4 million barrels in 2030. Besides some fluctuations, the figures for china and the Middle East are predicted to rise to nearly 3 million compared with a steady fall to only 2 million by 2030 in Western Europe and Japan.
