Essay topics:

The graph below shows information about the total oil consumption of four major consumers from 2009 to 2030. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The line chart compares the amount of the total oil consumed in four main nations (the USA, China, Western Europe and Japan, and the Middle East) between 2009 and 2030.

It is clear that the USA used by far the highest amount of oil. While the oil consumption in China and the Middle East increased slightly, Western Europe and Japan and the USA saw downward trends during the period shown.

In 2009, there were nearly 9 million barrels of total oil consumption in the USA, which was the highest figure in the chart. Meanwhile, the figure for Western Europe and Japan was 4 million, compared to only 2 million for each of China and the Middle East.

Starting at 10 million barrels in 2015, the amount of oil consumption in the USA might decrease lightly to roughly 8 million by 2025. At the same time, the year 2030 is likely to register a slight drop in the amount of oil usage to approximately 2 million. By contrast, the figures for China and the Middle East probably see upward trends to around 3,5 million and 3 million respectively, despite a drop in between of China by 2025.
