The graph below shows average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.

The bar chart depicts and compares the average releasing of the CO2 per individual in four European countries namely, the UK, Sweden, Italy, Portugal from 1967 to 2007.

Overall, although there was a descending trend in the UK and Sweden comparing to other European countries, the UK stayed the highest figure of the CO2 emission while Portugal was the latest country over the mentioned period.

From 1967 to 1977, Portugal, Italy, and Sweden were moderately increased their emission of CO2 per person to around 2.5, 6.5, and 10.5 metric tonnes respectively. However, the average of CO2 emission in the UK remained steady at about 11 metric tonnes.

In 1997 to 2007, the CO2 emission in the UK decreased slightly about 2 metric tonnes. Similarly, a dramatic drop in the average emission of the CO2 in Sweden by 3 metric tonnes and then its figure decreases gradually to reach roughly 5 metric tonnes. In contrast, Italy and Portugal saw a flactuated increase of the CO2 emission by 5, 3 metric tonnes respectively which then these figures remained constant in the end of the period ( 1997 to 2007).
